Product Information

CuZn35Al (comparable to CuZn35Mn2Al1Fe1 = CC765S and CuZn32AI2Mn2Fe1 = CB763S) is a special brass alloy designed for high corrosion resistance, particularly against dezincification, which makes it suitable for potable water systems and other demanding environments. This alloy is often used in DZR (Dezincification Resistant) components, such as water fittings and valves, where long-term reliability and compliance with drinking water regulations are essential.

Key Characteristics

  • Dezincification Resistance: Excellent, due to aluminum addition.
  • Corrosion Resistance: High, suitable for aggressive water environments.
  • Machinability: Moderate; better than many lead-free brasses.
  • Hot Forming: Good at 750–850 °C.
  • Joining: Suitable for brazing and soldering; welding is possible with care.
  • Surface Finish: Excellent polishability for decorative and sanitary applications

Applications

  • Potable Water Systems: Valves, fittings, and faucets (DZR components).
  • Water Meters and Plumbing Parts: Where dezincification resistance is critical.
  • Industrial Components: For environments with high corrosion risk.
  • Marine and Hydraulic Systems: Due to resistance to seawater and stress corrosion

CuZn35Al-C is listed in the European Positive List under Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2024/367, ensuring compliance with Directive (EU) 2020/2184 for materials in contact with drinking water. This guarantees its suitability for hygienic and safe use in potable water systems.
