Product Information

CW508L, also known as CuZn37 or Ms63, is a widely used brass alloy containing approximately 63% copper and 37% zinc. This composition provides an excellent balance of strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance, making CW508L one of the most versatile brasses for industrial and decorative applications.

Key Characteristics

  • Excellent Formability: CW508L is suitable for both cold and hot forming, including stamping, bending, and deep drawing.
  • Good Corrosion Resistance: Performs well in water, humid environments, and many chemicals, making it ideal for plumbing and sanitary systems.
  • Machinability: Rated as good at low speeds; suitable for turning, milling, and drilling.
  • Electrical Conductivity: Moderate, making it useful for electrical connectors and components.
  • Thermal Conductivity: High, suitable for heat exchangers and radiator parts.
  • Surface Finish: Can be polished, coated, or left raw for decorative purposes.

Applications

  • Sanitary and Drinking Water Systems: Pipes, fittings, and valves.
  • Mechanical Engineering: Gears, bushings, and components requiring wear resistance.
  • Electrical Engineering: Connectors, contacts, and switch components.
  • Automotive Industry: Radiator parts, fuel caps, switches, lamellar coolers, rivets, and other corrosion-resistant components.
  • Decorative and Architectural Elements: Due to its attractive golden color and polishability.

CW508L-DW is listed in the European Positive List under Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2024/367, ensuring compliance with Directive (EU) 2020/2184 for materials in contact with drinking water. This guarantees its suitability for hygienic and safe use in potable water systems.
