Bronze – Materials and norms

Bronze

Bronze is a metal alloy that is made up of copper and tin, while the proportion of copper is usually around 80%. However, a number of other metals may also be present in the alloy: aluminum, zinc, lead, iron, manganese, nickel or phosphorus. Sometimes these surcharges are added in larger quantities, hence the several bronze types (tin, aluminum, lead, and special) can be distinguished.

Bronze has historically gained popularity for its hardness and ductility. It is used in sculpture and other artistic fields as well as in mechanical engineering, where low friction between two metal bodies or corrosion resistance is required.

We supply bronze in the form of bars (round, flat, square, hexagonal, hollow), tubes or sheets. We cut semi-finished products into precise pre-final dimensions using band saws.

Below you will find a selection of the most common material grades we work with. Note for European standards (EN): the prefix CC (e.g. CC492K) indicates castings, CB (e.g. CB492K) indicates ingots, and CW (e.g. CW492K) indicates alloys intended for forming. Note for mechanical properties tables: values may vary depending on the manufacturing process and profile – more precise information for a specific semi-finished product is available on request.

If you are interested in another grade or alloy, do not hesitate to contact us.
